Guest guest
Hi Page,The news isn't good. CDC+, HCBS Waiver, and the Family Supported Living (FSL) waiver all have long waiting lists. Actually, it's one and the same list. Last I heard, there were 20,000 on that list waiting for services. I'm not familiar with HCDA or a DS waiver, or the OSS cash assistance. SSI payments here are strictly from the federal government and there is no match by the State of FL. I believe the services in MI are far superior than those in FL. If you haven't moved yet, may want to think about it. Come to Florida for the weather, not the services.Regards, To: sList Sent: Wednesday, June 13, 2012 11:12 AM Subject: CDC+ - Wait list time? Hello, New to the list and also not familiar with Florida's programs for adults with disabilities. We have a soon to be 18 year old son with autism and I'm researching programs/resources/supports he will be eligible for in Florida as well as other states. We have just started the guardianship and SSI process here in MI which as the attorney puts it, is a "slam dunk". Then when he turns 18 in a few months, he will receive case management and from there what ever supports we can get. So far in Florida I've found these programs/services; 1)CDC+ - "must be receiving services from the Medicaid Aged/Disabled Adult (ADA) Waiver". Is there a waiting list to get on the ADA waiver in Florida? Does is vary by county/district? 2) HCDA (Home Care for Disabled Adult) program - is anyone here using this program? 3) Family Supported Living Waiver program - again, anyone using this program? 4) DS (Developmental Services Waiver Program) Waiver? 5)Is the OSS cash assistance (Optional State Supplement) strictly for those living in facilities? 6) Lastly, SSI payments are funded by the Federal Government, many states supplement this payment..does Florida? Any help would be appreciated, please feel free to contact me in private email if it would be more appropriate. Best, Page
Guest guest
Thanks , the situation is as I thought. Michigan's services are quite good and so are a few other states. Now I can scratch Florida off hubby's places to retire lists, lol.
