Guest guest
Sounds like a good idea for responsibility, socialization etc. but I would check out Devra on how to protect against the radiation and what it does.... Hi, recently we got our 10 year old typical son a cell phone. Our older son, almost 13 with ASD, has not been asking for a phone but we think it might be a good thing for him to learn better phone manners and to stay in touch now that he is in middle school. Has anyone gotten their pre teen/teenager a phone? any recommendations? thanks. Jane
Guest guest
I have a 19 yr. old who has had a phone since she was @ 14. She is surprisingly very responsible, with the phone, so we have given her more elaborate phones, as she has proven herself. We started with a "FireFly"(do not know if it still exists?), that you can program up to 10 phone numbers he/she can dial out to and I believe there is no restriction on incoming calls? We then gave her the least expensive phone(no text, no camera, no internet). The last one she has had for like 2 years, has text, camera (and international long distance since she has travelled the past 2 summers)We have no envisioned plans to upgrade to Blackberry/Smartphone... Good Luck! DIANA To: sList From: earlsjane@...Date: Tue, 20 Nov 2012 10:48:13 -0500Subject: cell phones Hi, recently we got our 10 year old typical son a cell phone. Guest guest
My daughter has an older version of the iPhone and it has been great. We have put a schedule app on it so the teachers can schedule her day for her. I used it to reinforce home care and personal care skills and now she doesn't need it but we video her work skills training as a resume.Sent from my iPad I have a 19 yr. old who has had a phone since she was @ 14. Guest guest
I would make sure to talk to him/her about phone safety. My friend found out that a Broward School security employee had asked her 14 year old son for his number and was calling him without her permission and inviting him to his house. Very scary!! By the way, she brought it to the attention of the school's ESE specialist and principal and to my dismay, they brushed it off and did nothing about it. That was a year ago. > > > Hi, recently we got our 10 year old typical son a cell phone.
