Guest guest
Just wondered if anyone else has depression as a symptom of their hypo with the T-3? Is it worse (ladies) on your cycle? Mine was bad last month, and looks like it's back for this month. I hate this, along with the shortness of breath! And my short-term memory stinks, too. Guest guest
I suffered from depression that was severe for a few years before being diagnosed with Hashi's. I did straight T4 therapy and I eliminated most of my depression. I was like you said, sometimes the depression would creep back for awhile. My short term memory was terrible and I occasionally had brain for and hard to concentrate. I just thought this was the best I was going to get as I had eliminated most of the other hypo symptoms. Then, I was diagnosed with hypopituitary. The Dr tested growth hormone and it was very low. I was already supplementing progesterone, cortisol and thyroid. When I started growth hormone therapy the lights came on and not only did the depression and all other symptoms eliminate but I felt better than I had remembered when I was well! The insurance required a diagnosis of hypopituitary to pay for the growth hormone replacement, and were clear it was " not for depression or weight loss " . Which is sad, because it really is an amazing treatment for depression! It may be worth having your growth hormone tested, you can buy the hormone without the insurance, but it is pricey. I wish you luck and relief as I know how hard it is to suffer > > Just wondered if anyone else has depression as a symptom of their hypo with the T-3? Is it worse (ladies) on your cycle? Guest guest
Hi, I have been reading your post and I too have been dealing with depression for a very long time. I am currently on T3, Hc and other homones therapy. But I am not feeling better with all that I am taking. What type of doctor did you see to get tested for hypopituitary? I am trying to find a doctor that can help me with my depression. I know that there is something wrong, but I can't seem to find the missing link to all of this. I unfortnutely have to find a doctor that will accept my insurance, most test that I have had I paid for out of pocket. It is so diffcult trying to put everything together. It's a full time job and a lot of detective work, but i know once it's figured out it is so worth it. thanks Judy Subject: Re: T-3 and DepressionTo: RT3_T3 Date: Wednesday, June 2, 2010, 12:19 PM I suffered from depression that was severe for a few years before being diagnosed with Hashi's. Guest guest
For me it is one of the most obvious symptoms. One day I felt really depressed are returned home to see that my temps actually dropped. So I knew that the bad mood has got to do with the hormones thing. Hope this will be better once I clear my rt3 in hopefuly 6 weeks. > > Just wondered if anyone else has depression as a symptom of their hypo with the T-3? Is it worse (ladies) on your cycle?
