Guest guest
I don't think you have much choice, nothing worked for me. Over time with chelation absorbtion just started to improve. Supposedly the SCD yogurt contains 700 billion good bacteria per cup (way more than I can find in pills) and I have been taking about 4 c/day lately. The other ones that are more water soluble are not as readily absorbed and that is why Andy suggests dividing the doses over 4 x per day. > I'm sure this is a fairly common situation - so how have people > dealt with is before? > I just keep taking my supplements and know that at least some will be absorbed. When I have problems (like I did just recently) I have to stop and reevaluate to see if there is something I can do differently. I try to buy supplements in bulk and stay away from designer supplements so that costs are lower. This is an important issue that you have raised. I have noticed through listening to various chelation groups that the people who have trouble tolerating extremely low doses of chelators often report serious gut issues. I also haven't found the real " instructions " of how to heal a leaky gut. Parents in autism mercury do report that chelation is what will eventually heal the gut. Guest guest
On the Autism-Mercury group Andy never recommends putting off chelation until the gut is healed. He says repeatedly the gut will not heal many times until chelation is underway and has little patience for drs who have kids on their caseloads for more than a month or so without chelation starting. >> I know I've read where Andy doesn't advise putting off chelation >> to heal the gut - since part of the problem is mercury anyway. >> > > > > I think mercury is the underlying problem that causes lots of other > problems. Guest guest
Some supplements might make a huge difference for you even if you don't absorb them fully. This is the case for me and I would feel distinctly worse without them (I re-learn this all the time when I decide I don't need something anymore and stop taking it). There are others I take that don't make a discernable difference on a day to day basis, but they are nourishing or healing to certain bodily functions and I keep taking them because I have reason to be concerned about those functions (adrenals, liver, brain, etc). I am also working on the absorption issue to do whatever I can to improve it (betaine hcl, enzymes, lots of ascorbic acid, stuff to kill pathogens, etc). This is much more important if you have an " all low " hair test (I don't remember if yours was one of those). If the enzymes and probiotics are making you feel enough better, then just stick with them. If not, then I would keep exploring ways to address the gut problems - there are many supplements and changes in diet that can help with yeast problems. -- > > > I know I've read where Andy doesn't advise putting off chelation > to heal the gut - since part of the problem is mercury anyway. > > But, if I'm dealing with absorbtion issues I don't see the point > of taking all the supplements he recommends with chelation because > as he says - its an expensive waste of time. > > I'm just really confused what to do first. Guest guest
Hi I'm one that was having difficulty with the whole absorption thing...for years. I would read about supplements and very carefully self assess my need for a particular vit, min, supplement and either receive no benefit or begin to suffer from it. All I wanted was some relief in my gut and get some nourishment of any kind. The answer for me at this time is eating fresh fruit meals, large salads and steamed veggie dishes. These foods are rich in many things needed by the body and have a high alkaline water content. Nature's water filter. Of course there are cravings for heavier foods so look into the SCD diet mentioned by . " Breaking the Vicious Cycle " by Elaine Gottschall is the most current of the heal your gut series. The basic idea covered in the book is that if you have absorption issues eat 2/3 veggies with the remaining third being beans or chicken but hold off on the starches for a while as anything you can't immediately absorb will feed bacteria. Bacteria's byproducts aggravate the intestinal lining. Candida's byproducts are apparently similar to gluten intolerant people in that the particles will lodge into the lining and inflame the area so much that the villi will pull tight and lie flat. The area will then be protected with mucous creating Fort Knox Villi and not a lot of absorption. So a basic suggestion is keep chelating - low dose style, eat lots of fruits and veggies and see how you feel. Good Luck Willem seashell_555 wrote: > I know I've read where Andy doesn't advise putting off chelation > to heal the gut - since part of the problem is mercury anyway. > > But, if I'm dealing with absorbtion issues I don't see the point > of taking all the supplements he recommends with chelation because > as he says - its an expensive waste of time. > > I'm just really confused what to do first.
