I am obviously building up RT3 in a bad way! But why? I have no idea! No wonder I have put on so much weight in the last few months! Anyhow, I started T3 today (as my temps are stable and ferritin is ok!) - 12.5mcg this morning, and haven't felt any thing wrong, so I'm going to take my next 12.5mcg in a couple hours. I am presuming you are not on any thyroid support? Your FT4 is too high, that means everything is converting to RT3 Going onto T3 only now ferritin and adrenals are in place ought to sort it out Nick
Guest guest
Hi Nick, Thanks for the reply! No, I am not on any thyroid meds. Yes, I am hoping going on this T3 will sort it out! But I need to find out why this RT3 is building up so much - I intially thought it was my low ferritin and cortisol, but the only thing that I can tell from the list of your website, that it could possibly be now (i.e. the most likely reason) is heavy metal toxicity. None of the other things seem to apply to me. I do have estrogen dominance though - could this cause it? I was hoping that that would kind of disappear once my adrenals were ok - but I am only going to retest my hormones once my RT3 has cleared. On a different note - I took my first doses of T3 today (12.5mg X2) with no hitches - don't feel any ill effects at all - but my av temp for the day did go up from 36.8/36.9 to 37.03. Is this ok, should I be worried as it's above 37? Thanks! > > >for 7 days before testing > > > >Free T3 : 2.72 (1.4 - 4.40 pg/dL) > > > >TSH : 1.50 (0.27 - 4.2 uIU/mL > > > >Free T4 : 1.66 (0.932 - 1.71 ng/dL) > > > >Can anyone perhaps provide any explanation for my continually decreasing Free T3 number?? Guest guest
Ah, that is the majic question! Unfortunately, I suspect there are many here who will be on t3 forever as we'll never know why the heck our bodies keep making rt3. But yes, estrogen dominance can cause it. Although I fixed mine ages ago and still make rt3. Anything that causes the body to go into stress mode like extreme dieting, not eating enough fat and protein, infection, injury, any of that can cause rt3. And of course the whole adrenal issue, when your adrenals finally burn out and you end up with AF. I make perfect t4 but it doesn't convert to t3. :-( Maybe someday, until then I will just try to figure out how much t3 to give my poor body. HOpefully Nick will answer your temp question. All I can say is that the cynomel seems very strong to me and often spikes my temps. I think that may be normal until you have a stable dose in your body. Then it supposedly does not create ups and downs. Good luck! Kathleen > > Hi Nick, > > Thanks for the reply! No, I am not on any thyroid meds. > > Yes, I am hoping going on this T3 will sort it out!
