" Are you on HC? if you are not then a new adrenal saliva test would be

good. Low or high cortisol at night can greatly influence sleep "

I am on HC, 35 mg. I believe I have high cortisol at night based on my last

saliva test before starting HC. I thought the HC would help lower it. What do

you suggest when on HC for high nighttime levels? I take 5 mg HC at bedtime

along with 1500 mg tryptophan and melatonin. It seems counterproductive to take

HC with melatonin and tryptophan but Val said I might find myself waking up in

the middle of the night if I didn't.

Any suggestions?

would cause insomnia in the event my RT3 is clear and thyroid levels are normal.

In other words, are there any other test I should ask for that would cause this

like estrogen imbalance, low testostrone or B-12

It's outside my experience here, I'm a T3 person and not an adrenal

specialist.

I would post that on the adrenal group when they reopen at the

weekeend

It's because when you do take HC in the day, it shuts down your own production

enough taht you might end up going too low at night! I also think that taking

the 5 at night not only helps with that BUT it continues to keep the ACTH from

kicking in and making too much cortisol and/or adrenaline. But i think like

everything else it can depend on the person. And so you could always try to skip

the bedtime dose and see if you sleep better.

I am currently in the same boat and experimenting. The more I write, the more I

think I need to try 5 mg at night myself!!

BTW, may I ask what dosing schedule she gave you for 35 HC? Including the 5 at

bedtime. I have to dose every 3 hours and am not sure how I should do it...

Thanks,

Kathleen
