Guest guest
On and off past couple of years, I've used a digestive aid recommended by my acupuncturist called Bio-Gest, from Thorne Co., with the following contents: betaine hydrochloride glutamic acid hydrochloride ox bile concentrate pure pancreatin pure pepsin (1:16000 minimum) While I've had some decent results with it, until 2 weeks ago, I was not on scd. In researching other enzyme products, such as GI Pro Health, I notice their product has much different contents, to the point that I wonder if both their product and Bio Gest were designed for the same thing. Any thoughts? On role and / or effectiveness of enzymes w scd? tom ibs 06 scd 7/
Guest guest
Tom I've done a bit of research into digestive enzymes, as my body hasn't tolerated any of the ones I've tried (immediate immune response). The ingredients vary with each brand, although most have HCl and usually 3 or 4 primary enzymes, such as amylase, protease, lipase. There are a variety of combinations available. The first critical part of selecting a digestive enzyme for those of us on SCD is to make sure there are no illegals in the inert or inactive ingredients that some contain. The other is to find one our bodies tolerate and/or that work well to improve our digestion. Bio-Gest looks good in terms of ingredients while you're on SCD. If it helps, then no need for you to find another digestive enzyme. Kim M. SCD 5+ years
