e,

I have not had a CT scan but from what I understand they are not painful etc.

Its better to have things checked to be sure. I will keep you in my prayers.

Hi, e -

Anything out of the ordinary - it's good to have it checked.

CT scans are nothing scary. I've had 3 so far. I had to not eat, but drink

plenty, for an hour or two beforehand. Then I had to get to the hospital

about 45 minutes before the scan, and drink some liquid (about a litre)

which was going to show up my digestion on the scan. I changed into a

hospital gown, and went into the scanner room, where I lay on a narrow bed.

They gave me an injection of stuff which was going to show up my blood on

the scan. Then they slid the bed through a doughnut-shaped scanner - I was

lying with my arms above my head - and as I kept very still the bed moved

slowly through the hole of the doughnut. They scanned me from neck to

thorax to abdomen to pelvis. That's all there was to it. I was desperate

to go and unload all that liquid afterwards, but that was the only

discomfort.

The scanner takes pictures of your insides, over and over again, as you

slide through it, like an x-ray machine. The computer puts the pictures

together somehow so the experts can see a 3-dimensional picture of inside

you. Computer Tomography - CT - I think.

They found a spot on my liver this way, and now they've decided it's just a

benign haemangioma - not anything nasty. Scans are great for keeping an eye

on anything sinister.

Don't be afraid of the scan.

Love and comfort,

Margery.

Yes e I had a MRI and Cat Scan before I started any of my

treatments. I rrequested them. I wanted to make sure the cancer

cells weren't any where else in my body!!!! Mine both came back clear!

However the best scan you can have is a pet scan it can even find

cells that are to small that MRI's and Cats can't but alot of ins.

Companies won't pay for them.

It is not painfull they do inject some dye into you that makes you

feel very warm inside but is not that uncomfortable. and it don't

take long.
