Guest guest
Hi Dahlia, I've been using salt for months and I think that it has helped me too, although not to the extent that it seems to be helping you - I'm afraid that my adrenals are probably in worse shape than yours. I typically take as much as 1/2tsp, 2x/day, once in the AM and once in the PM, and I sprinkle it in my drinking water during the day too. I think that it does make me retain water some b/c when I went off of it for two days prior to my aldosterone test this week, my fingers shrank to where my wedding ring is falling off (weight loss will do that to you too). I'm waiting for the aldosterone and renin labs to come back to see if maybe Florinef would help me too. > > Hi , > > Sorry I'm late getting back here--I've been taking salt all day long per Val's suggestion and I've had so much more energy and stamina, been getting all sorts of things done--but neglecting my reading! > > I'm starting florinef today as my aldosterone level was " 2 " . Until I got the rx, I was experimenting with drinking salt instead of stress dosing and I had amazing results. (I didn't know about the 'water cure', so probably I didn't flush it out with enough plain h2o, but I'll try that next.) > > I highly recommend salt. I was even able to painlessly increase my armour dose by 15 mg, something I have never been able to do. Also, my temps rose and staid more steady, just on the salt alone, and the terrible cold feeling I've had since december is starting to resolve. > No more 'jolts' or sweats, either. > > Dahlia
Guest guest
, I'm talking about 2 tsps of salt!! I figured that's about what I had yesterday. I am fershure holding water, I feel like a whale...but my temp 3 hours after I woke up today was 97.9--compared to the usual 96.8....My temps didn't stay high today but since I began taking 1/4 tab of florinef this a.m., I was afraid to drink quite as much salt as I had yesterday and the day before, when I noticed the remarkable difference. I'm in no position to advise, but for me (with low sodium and very low aldosterone) the big increase in salt had a big effect. I'll be really interested to see your aldosterone labs...do you know what your sodium level is? Guest guest
Sodium has consistently tested a little low, but in range (ranges varying depending on the lab). Last time it was tested was last month and it came back 140 with a range of 135-146 and potassium was 3.8 with a range of 3.5-5.3 and that was with taking at least a tsp of sea salt/day and a banana every day. Every time Val has seen my labs she has noted that I could use a little more salt so I have tried to increase it, but don't like the swelling in the hands much. My wife bought me a Camelbak 24oz water bottle for V-Day which is perfect - I put a tsp of sea salt in it this morning and I'll drink it all day. > I'll be really interested to see your aldosterone labs...do you know what your sodium level is? > > Dahlia
Guest guest
Your sodium is higher than mine which was 136, I think. My potassium was kind of low too, I don't recall exactly. I'm willing to put up w/the swelling on a temporary basis, but I don't think it's a good thing to have long term, for sure. I'm really hoping florinef will provdide balance.
