Guest guest
Hello: I was wondering...I'm thinking about getting a vestibulectomy, but I'm really nervous about the idea of surgery. (I've had vulvar vestibulitis for ten years; the pain is only upon penetration and limited to the bottom half of the vestibule, so I think I'm an ok candidate.) Are there any surgeons that you are aware of that have a great reputation for performing this type of surgery? (Obviously, I don't want to go to just anyone...) I'd prefer in the NYC area, but I've heard of someone in the DC area that's supposed to be great, as well. Finally, one more question: I'm supposed to see Dr. Levey soon, who's associated with the New York Pelvic Pain and Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery Center...has anyone had any experiences with him/them? Thanks so much! - Amy
Guest guest
I had a vestibulectomy with Dr. in Rochester, NY. He's an expert in vulvar pain and I trust him 100%. He will not jump to surgery unless he feels it's truly indicated and you've exhausted other options. Dr. Goldstein in NYC is a great surgeon according to all the docs I have seen, but he does not take insurance. Dr. was more affordable for me because he took my insurance. But... I did have to pay airfare and hotel, so... You may want to consider Goldstein in you live in NYC. When I had the surgery I was living in RI so I definitely had to travel for it. Jet Blue is an affordable way to go to Rochester. Lia > > Hello: > > I was wondering...I'm thinking about getting a vestibulectomy, but > I'm really nervous about the idea of surgery.
