Guest guest
Betty, I'm sorry if my earlier answer was unclear. Are you on Cytomel ONLY? Or also another thyroid med? If you are on Cytomel ONLY, you are already on what you need to treat an RT3 problem. RT3 is made from T4; without T4, the body cannot produce RT3. So to treat the RT3 problem, we stop taking any medication containing T4 (Synthroid or Natural Thyroid) and take T3-only meds. It usually takes about 12 weeks of T3-only meds to resolve an RT3 problem. Sadly, many doctors don't get this. They are taught that RT3 is inactive. It is not. It blocks the receptors so that T3 can not be properly utilized. Dr. Holtorf calls this " tissue hypothyroidism " , where we have enough thyroid in our bodies but it can't get utilized properly. > > > > > > When the RT3 is out of balance how does that effect the dosing?
