Guest guest
Hello All, The first few weeks of school are already past us. I hope that everyone is getting settled in and a move towards progress has begun. For years I've been asked to put together a parent guide on IEPs, particularly IEP goals. It's finally complete. I believe that for parents to be truly active participants in their child's education (as IDEA law requires) it's imperative that they know a little about what IDEA law says to be able to make solid recommendations for goals. Go for the Goal: A Parent's Guide to Creating Meaningful IEP Goals is an easy-to-read e-book where you can find a vast array of sample goals to set you on a course to become a truly active participant in the IEP process. There was a recent policy addition in Broward County Schools where parents will receive a draft of their annual IEP 5 days prior to the meeting. Take this opportunity to review the IEP, consider the goal recommendations by the school and utilize this publication to assist you in making goal suggestions that you feel are important for your child's progress and development.
