Guest guest
I am nto convinced any female mneeds over 5mg DHEA anytime. It is MUCH safer to just supplement testosterone and estrogen as needed. MOST of DHEA's good actions are form it's conversioninto those anabolic steroids. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://faqhelp.webs.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ > Hi Val, and thanks, > > I forgot to say that I've been really sick with a nasty cold for almost three weeks, which is why I stopped decreasing the HC. I'm working my way down as you'd recommended a month or so ago. > > Those are basal temps. But this morning, I was back at my regular 97.6...sigh. Over the past week my 3x a day temps avg is 98.3. > > Re DHEA, I'm taking 25mg a day. Have been taking 20mg for a year, and just increased. Should I decrease that? > > I was trying to learn more about blood sugar, leptin resistance and T3, but got booted off that group.... can you point me anywhere else for the leptin issue, just in case I am resistant to that, as well as everything else? Guest guest
ok.. makes sense. My DHEA was low and doc said to up it, but i'm also on topical testosterone and progesterone. No estrogen, which I've always had in great supply.... I'll drop back to 5mg. Do I need to do that gradually, or does it matter? Thanks again! > >> > >>> I'm in week 8.5 of no T4 & RT3 clearance. Guest guest
NO you can drop it all at once. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://faqhelp.webs.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ > ok.. makes sense. Guest guest
I beg to differ with Val on this point. I am panhypopituitary and therefor have no adrenal function. I have to take 15 mg of DHEA daily to keep my DHEAS level in the range of 150 to 200 (last test it was 165 and that was during the afternoon, a few hours after my morning dose). DHEA does have other functions (studies show over 40!) in the body, only some of which are to be converted into sex hormones. I do believe 25 mg is probably too much for any woman, though. Likely 5 mg to 15 mg would suffice for most of us females as supplements (men's levels are higher and they can tolerate higher supplemental dosing). I suggest testing DHEAS rather than DHEA; it's more stable and accurate. Although the DHEAS ranges might be age adjusted to say something like 26 to 365 is normal for a woman, a person would probably feel unwell in the lower or higher parts of that range. Healthy middle-age women with " healthy " libidos were tested in one study, and most were right in the 180 to 200 range on the DHEAS. Just my 2cents Kate in NC > >>>> > >>>> > >>>>> I'm in week 8.5 of no T4 & RT3 clearance. For the first time in my life, my morning temps are 98 to 98.4.
