Hi,

I'm 24 and I've had anxiety with my fibro since I was 15. I'm on

wellbutrin right now to regulate my sleeping pattern and it has helped a

little with the anxiety.

I was hospitalized for anxiety, among other things. Anxiety has really

been a burden for many years for me.

The medication that truly helped with the anxiety was Klonopin, for me. My

new psychiatrist is trying to wean me off Klonopin, taking more Paxil, but

I am very reluctant to leave off the Klonopin.

YOu should see someone about the anxiety and depression, ASAP. It's hard

to fight these things alone. I don't know if anyone will prescribe

medication or what other things they might try, but do get some

help. Nothing I take or do makes ALL the anxiety go away, but it's under

enough control that I can leave my house, work, etc. (That is if the FM

isn't kicking my butt, too! Bad double whammy there)

My best wishes,

Em

yes, I do. My anxiety actually started long before my fibro. I had no

idea what my problem was for the longest time, and when I finally found

a description of what I was going through, I was elated. At the time, I

sort of thought it would reflect badly on me if I went to anyone about

it, so I tried to help myself. I think they call it Cognitive Behavior

Modification. I found a moment when I wasn't feeling as anxious, and

tried to learn how my body felt at that moment, how did my muscles feel,

how did my face feel? Then I picked a word to associate with that

feeling. So I'd say " calm " to myself over and over again until I

recognized that calm went with the feeling of calmness. Then when I

start to get anxious, I'd say " calm " to myself over and over again to

get my body to relax like it had during the calm periods. This worked

pretty well for mild anxiety, helped some during moderate, and didn't

touch the severe. When I was finally put on Remeron for depression, it

also helped a lot with the anxiety. I hadn't realized how bad I had

gotten until a lot of it went away. In hindsight, I should have gone to

someone to get some help. I would suggest asking your doctor for some

help. It feels so much better not to be as anxious about everything all

of the time.

Be very careful w/ Paxil...my brother was taking it and it literally ruined his

life. His personality totally changed...he was very aggressive and arrogant.

It helped to wreck his marriage. If you do go on it make sure that you have

someone who can watch for personality changes.

I took Xanax for a while after my tinnitus diagnoses. It helped some folks

to have relief from tinnitus. It made me in to a zombie. I was never really

awake while taking it and I just did not feel good on it. But once again, a

medication that does not suit one person my help another. Only you and your

doctor can determine that.

Take care,

Irene - and the person who asked about Xanax. It saved my life. I was

going down for the count suffering from waves and waves of panic attacks. I

wanted to be " dead " believe me.

However - I've seen people take too large doses of this and become

" zombies. " And - as we've all said a lot - medicines affect all of us

differently. Long term use of xanax isn't recommended. But I'm sure glad

it was there for me - when I was in emotional and physical agony!

None of us want to walk around groggy - like a zombie! I'm sure you made

the right call for you, Irene! Marsha
