Guest guest
Please read the article below and you decide if this is an example of the " quality medical care " that Elizibeth Dudek (Secretary of AHCA) is speaking of? Here is her quote after meeting with Dept. of Justice about the state's dismal record of serving people with disabilities through Medicaid: " We continue our outreach to parents and advocates regarding concern about the availability of medical services,'' Dudek said in the statement. " All medically necessary services are available to children enrolled in the Medicaid program. The state believes strongly that individuals, especially Florida's most medically fragile children, deserve to be cared for in the least restrictive setting that can best serve their medical needs. " This is the furthest thing from the truth. The state of Florida has systematically denied the appropriate services to families for the sake " quality care " ??? They would rather pay nursing homes up to $500.00 a day, than allow families to take care of their loved ones at home with appropriate services, all in the name of trying to avoid fraud by consumers. The fraud is that the leaders of this state think they know better than families and I guess if you want to do what what a certain leader did to the disabled during World War II, then they are on the right track. Too harsh, well I am sorry if I offended anyone, but Marie Freyre is dead and the state of Florida is responsible for that death. They do not know what is best for families that have loved ones with developmental disabilities, families do and they refuse to listen. It normally takes children dying to get everyone's attention and that is sad. We shouldn't be waiting for people to die to act on what is a flawed system. Managed care is going to fix everything, right? Why don't we just give them all pills to take themselves out, so they don't have to deal with the " quality care " that Florida is going provide?
