Guest guest
Hi: I had a growth like that on my labia. I had it for about 3/4 years and it got bigger with time. I finally had it removed and it was big enough to biopsy. It was what they called a 'benign polop'. In laymans terms it was a skin tag. I have had little teeny ones on the inside of my labia for 30 years. They haven't grown, the doctors said they were also skin tags. The big one used to catch on my underwear. Guest guest
Hi Melinda – is there anyone else you can see besides Dr. for a second opinion? A dermatologist, OB/GYN, urogynocologist, even your primary care doctor? I think any one of these physicians would be able to tell you if it was just a skin tag. nne

Guest guest
Hi Melinda: I agree with Dusty that you should get a doctor to give you some idea of what he/she thinks it is. I had mine for 3-4 years and showed it to three doctors. They all said it was a skin tag and the biopsy confirmed it when I had it removed. Better safe than sorry. Sherri -------------- Original message -------------- Melinda,I was very careful in my initial response to try and make you see that I wasn't suggesting you were overstepping or asking too much or anything else. I'm sorry you mistook it for that.My point was that when it comes to something growing on/in your body (which you write is as yet an undiagnosed growth beyond a phsicians saying "oh don't worry about that") it needs a professional opinion. Our growths, here on the list, could be a wart, a skin tag, an inflamed pimple or something equally as simple . But what if yours wasn't so benign a growth - what if yours was a serious medical issue, but you weren't too worried about it because of the responses you got from our list. Waiting to get to a doc could then mean a serious problem for you if your growth was someth ing needing medical intervention. I have fallen into this trap on this list and others ...... oh, they've been down this road and this is nothing so I'll stop worrying, when in fact I should have been acting on whatever my problem was. My initial response was sent in the interest of your personal health and well-being and not as a criticism. If the doc you are seeing won't give you a specific diagnosis and answer why this is growing so quickly, please find another doc. Your good health is important.Dustyspanishmiss430 wrote: I understand no one on here is a doctor and am not looking for a diagnosis - simply for others to share their experiences of growths they may have had, as I have begged and begged and my specialist won't see me till August 30th. Sorry if anyone felt I was overstepping and asking too much of the group. Sherri, thanks for your helpful response, I am hopeful that mine will just be considered a skin tag.Melinda**IF REPLYING TO THIS POST, PLEASE REMOVE ORIGINAL POST, Thanks for your cooperation! *****
