Guest guest
nne, Being as the emergency room gave me a list of low-cost dentist, as well as the dental schools for getting my teeth tended to.. I'm wondering, if you might not contact a fairly local Emergency Room and have them give you a similar list, if they have one. When I called my Medicare Assured supplement insurance company, I was told that if I would call "this" number they could tell me if a particular doctor accepted both the Medicare program insurance AND medicaid.. (Of course when I called that number, I was basically told.. nope, we don't have such a list.. and by the way.. GOOD LUCK on finding any that accept both.. but left totally on my own as to finding one) I wish that I had known that the Emergency Room of a "teaching hospital" would have just such a list, and kindly handed it to me yesterday as well. I would think, as well, that the social work department of any hospital would have a similar list. Couldn't hurt to give it a stab -- no pun intended. At least for future reference. If it's at all possible even if it's only a little bit on one tooth at a time, please don't wait, like I did, until it's too late for repair. I wish I hadn't been so darned stubborn when that moron dentist promised composite fillings -- when I HAD dental insurance -- and then after prepping and drilling out the whole upper left side of my mouth started mixing up amalgam filling material... in the MIDDLE OF WINTER!.. and I had no choice but to allow him to replaced the missing fillings with the amalgam. It was then that I swore that I would not see another dentist until all my teeth were bad enough that they would have to be pulled and replaced by dentures.. and then proceeded to do just that!! I really wish I had not have done that.. but as the old adage goes.. Hindsight is always 20/20.. HUGS |)onna (who will be praying that you won't continue having mouth pain.. because she thinks she'd rather be back in labor having a baby than mouth pain) Well my teeth aren't the best but we have no insurance and Medicare sure won't pay. But my teeth feel ok. Hot or cold don't bother them. Can't feel any bumps like an abcess. I have had this before. Went through it last year and all of a sudden it disappeared and came back a few weeks ago. Right now its feeling ok. Oh well, a couple of Tylenol and an Advil help it so thats what I will continue to do. Could be a whole lot worse. Pretty much like my primary insurance company doing an authorization for my Provigil from no until 2099. When I mentioned my surprise on that to my health care manager from Highmark, she said, it was done that way because they (Highmark) recognize (now) the actual benefit of that drug for people with MS. Whereas, before now, it was an uphill struggle to have something prescribed "off-label" and have it approved easily. And on the second point, Butalbital (Esgic) wouldn't be any good for pain either, and would cancel out the LDN... Then I guess that I wouldn't be able to switch to LDN either, because of the prescription for the ocular migraines (that I still don't understand.. the ocular migraines, not the prescription.. LOL)... Oh good grief.. wonder if I'm going to be told that I'm having migraines in my teeth now?? Looks as if I'm might be ruining someone's holiday weekend, and confusing a bunch of doctors in the ER as well.. IF the pain starts up again tonight in my jaw.. I hate having to head for the ER.. for a toothache... but I'm pretty sure that a toothache stays a toothache and doesn't go away during the day, only to come back at night, but not every night.. or might be here during the day, but not at night.. and right now, I feel like I've got an earache.. That's Trigeminal Neuralgia, isn't it? HUGS |)onna My well respected neurologist precribed LDN for me and had no problem with it. I know Dan gets LDN from the neurologist at UCSF. I think if the University of California at San Francisco is prescribing LDN then other neuros should take another look at it too. My opinion:) You can't be on narcotics when on LDN because they act against each other. Naltrexone was originally used in treatment of alcoholism and drug abuse to mute their effects. Guest guest
Thanks Donna. Definitely something to look into. Guest guest
Missing by a couple dollars.. the story of mine, and a whole lot of other peoples lives.. and we don't know how to lie either.. PA has a "Spend Down" program of some sort. Most case managers neglect to mention this to people, when telling them they don't qualify.. Not sure whether that is because they themselves aren't aware of it.. or there's too much paperwork involved... But if we have this spend down program (after you've spent a certain number of dollars "out of pocket" you then qualify for medicaid to either kick in and pick up the "balance" or its full out complete medicaid coverage for whatever medicare or supplemental coverage doesn't pay) it might be possible that your state has something very similar. Something else to check into, maybe? HUGS |)onna Thanks Donna. Definitely something to look into. I know Medicare won't pay for dentists visits as we tried that with my Aunt and we don't have Medicaid.
