Guest guest
Banana made me gassy. I suppressed them. And I am using peppermint tea to get the gas out of my body... I don't know if this works for others... In any case, try it very cautiously, a small amount to see if it works or if it makes things worse... In some other post there was a yoga technique to get gas out of your body, you may try to google for it. Finally, whenever I am alone, I try to burp as much as I can... I believe it helps... Chronic D since 2005 SCD April 29 Intro May 29 Low-carb Jun 11 > > Hi everyone, > > Thank you so much for all of your advice so far. This message board has been so helpful. I have UC for 8-9 years now,I have been on the diet 3 weeks and have seen many positive changes since starting it. My biggest issue has been these awful gas pains that started AFTER I started the diet. I have never experienced them before. Today, the air/gas is rumbling around so much in my upper-intestines that I swear it feels exactly like the sensation I had when I was pregnant and the baby kicked/moved/hic-cupped. Moms will know what I mean about this feeling. There is no way that I am pregnant, so we can rule that out but is it possible that die-off is causing this much activity? I can see slight movement as the air bubbles through my intestines. Again, it's very much like watching a pregnant belly as the baby moves! I am NOT pregnant so what could this be & is there anything that I can do to stop all this gas? Charcoal? I don't think it's anything that I'm eating but it may be. Today, so far, I have had 1 very ripe bannana for breakfast because I've ruled out they are not bothering me, 2 hard boiled eggs & 1/2 a beef patty for lunch & the pains, as usual, started about 2 PM. Thanks for any advice, Peggy H. UC/Asacol >

Thanks for any advice, It could be die off. It could be the whites of the eggs - some people have a hard time with that. But since it started in the afternoon, after lunch, I'd look at that for the first culprit - maybe try a chicken burger instead - just to switch up the routine, or some steak. Etc. Are you sure that it is pure beef, without any additives - this is more normal with ground turkey, but worth checking the package anyway. Or perhaps a different brand of beef would work better. Some sensitive people, for whatever reason, react badly to pre-ground meat. But if this is continuing, I'd go back to doing some heavy duty broths for a few days - doesn't have to be chicken - you can do a great beef broth as well. Guest guest
In some other post there was a yoga technique to get gas out of your body, you may try to google for it.I just lay on my left side for 5-10 minutes which usually does the trick. If not, I roll over to my right side for another 5-10 minutes. Just rolling around a little bit can get the gas moving. Walking usually helps too.
