ALA Protocol Questions

Post amalgam removal, I've been using DMPS on an on/off shedule for 5

months and will be adding Alph Lipoic Acid and have several questions.

- Are there specific manufacturers of ALA that you can recommend (as

I imagine all are not equal in terms of qualtiy)? Are there any that

make ALA in 12.5 caps or tablet form to adjust dosage?

- Is there a significant increase in symptoms when beginning the ALA?

Are they minimized by beginning ALA at a dose of 12.5 vs 25 mg and

increasing dosage after several rounds?

- Using ALA in combination with DMPS:

What is the difference/benefit of taking ALA every 3 hours vs. every 4

hours (and DMPS every 8 hours)?

- What is your recommendation regarding number of days on and then

off ALA/DMPS? Is mercury removal effective with 3 days on and 7

days off? or is there a significant benefit to the 3 on/4 off

schedule? What about 6 on and 8 off?

- Should the first few doses of ALA be taken before the first dose of

DMPS, so that DMPS extends beyond the last dose of ALA in a round?

- Are there any modifications in the schedule or dosage if one has an

allergy to mercury?

- What blood work/tests do you recommend during this phase of the detox?

- My selenium level of slightly low and I have been supplementing

daily with selenium. Is this a problem? Something I read on the site

wasn't clear to me in regard to Mercury binding to Selenium in a

problematic way. Also, should zinc be taken even during chelation or

will the chelator (DMPS) bind with zinc rather than mercury b/c it's

more readily available?

Thank you for the feedback.
