Guest guest
Found this old post and had a question for the old-timers. I have been on the SCD for over 7 years and I believe I have developed new food intolerances/allergies as a result. I am on an elimination diet to identify them now, but wondered if anyone else has had this experience? For example, egg was one of the first problems I developed (just a couple of years into the diet). The baked goods are very egg-heavy. I haven't tried a food challenge yet, but I am very concerned that I have eaten almonds so frequently that I have become intolerant to them. Anyone have any thoughts/advice? I plan to use a rotation diet once I identify the new offenders. I am wondering if the overeating of certain foods is what provokes food troubles in the first place? I certainly do eat much too repetitively. BTW, I was symptom free of my UC the first week on the diet. It's only recently that I've had more UC symptoms and other allergy symptoms. TIA! Mel > > Hi Hannah...when one's immune system is out of whack and the gut is upside down, sometimes repetitive eating, eating the same things day after day for long periods of time with no variety, can cause new food intolerances to emerge...trying a 4 to 5 day rotation diet, in other words, not eating the same thing for four-five days can sometimes assist the immune system to clear food allergic reactions and intolerances and give your body a leg up on healing...THAT IS ROTATING SCD LEGAL FOODS, WORKING WITHIN THE SCD...There was a time for months when I could not eat anything except for vegetable broth and reacted to anything I put in my mouth...after 1.25 years on SCD, my intolerances are still extremely bad, but have dramatically improved and the anaphalactic reactions to any food have cleared...keep trying...what may have happened is that you healed some since starting the SCD and this may have uncovered a hidden food intolerance to eggs...I can't explain it all here but maybe do some > research on food allergies, intolerances, rotation diets etc. and you may find it helpful to incorporate some of those principles within your SCD Universe...good luck...this rambles a bit...MK...Kim M. has found rotating a helpful principle so she may be able to explain it better... > > -------------- Original message -------------- > From: " moonfox05 " > > Hi everyone! > > Eggs used to be one of the foods that I could depend on for protein, > when everything else made me sick. Guest guest
Yes, I've read research that over exposure to one type of food will cause an intolerance or allergy to it. I read that rice allergies are common in China while wheat allergies are more common in Italy. It's always best to rotate food, though I have all my life eaten things in spurts, two weeks of one food and two weeks of another. I find it very difficult to rotate foods.
