Guest guest
Hi there, Recently, it was suggested that I stop the iron suppliments I was taking and, what do you know, I started feeling better. However, my ferritin is very low and my doctor is concerned. I eat red meat sometimes - maybe a couple times a month. Does anyone have any experience with Floridex (she recommended it to me). Thanks much, Alessa
Guest guest
Hi Alessa :-) My ferritin is very low too, its been around the 8 or 9 mark for a long while and I havent been able to bring it up. I think its low partly as a way for the body to cope with excessive oxidative stress either from mercury or bad microbes and iron increases oxidative stress. I think doctors worry too much about ferritin levels and as with lots of things they dont put it into context so I think as long as you dont feel too bad its ok for ferritin to be on the lowish side as Andy says in AI though I can feel pretty weak and brain dead sometimes during menstruation so its tricky finding the middle ground between not taking in too much or not enough. Iron supplements that Ive tried have sometimes made me feel worse and I did try Floridex once and it gave me a boost but then I remember feeling worse so stopped taking it. I dont know whether that was because of the iron or whether it was because the liquid fruits and veggies in there didnt agree with me. I'm trying to eat more red meat every week and I started taking more antioxidants recently on top of the regular ones so now I'm taking Quercetin and grape seed extract. There was an interesting post recently on A-M about grape seed extract helping to raise ferritin levels. Also low iron is associated with low thyroid and I feel that is the case with me so I have started taking Armour again. Take care, Anne > > Hi there, > Recently, it was suggested that I stop the iron suppliments I was taking and, what do you > know, I started feeling better. > However, my ferritin is very low and my doctor is concerned. > I eat red meat sometimes - maybe a couple times a month. > Does anyone have any experience with Floridex (she recommended it to me). > Thanks much, > Alessa >

Maybe that means you don't do well on those specific products, or maybe it means you don't tolerate iron. I can take iron for short periods of time. Maybe that's better than not at all, but I'm not sure. For one thing, I think maybe it feeds candida. At least my gut gets worse after I've been taking it for a week or two. > However, my ferritin is very low and my doctor is concerned. > I eat red meat sometimes - maybe a couple times a month. > Does anyone have any experience with Floridex (she recommended it to me). I took this several years ago. I had taken other iron supplements before this that did not cause nearly as much trouble. This caused nausea, stomach pain, worsened candida, and basically triggered my downslide into candida hell, including severe weight loss, inability to eat much of anything, etc. I tried both the regular floradix product and the floravit (yeast free, gluten free version). Both are full of sugars, and I'm sure this was at least part of my problem. I was just in the process of figuring out that I had candida and what that meant. I only took this stuff for a total of a week. I should have dropped it after one dose. Horrible experience. -- > Thanks much, > Alessa >
Guest guest
My ferritin is also very low, and I was told to take IronSorb by Jarrow Formulas. It is supposed to be very absorbable and easy on the stomach. I have been taking it for a few weeks, and I seem to tolerate it well.
