Guest guest
Everyone has been so helpfull... i have to bother you again. Chad had surgery last night. He had his gallbladder removed, they checked on the liver biopsy sites & said everything was healing well & they did the cholangiogram & said that one side of his bile duct looked a little more narrow than the other, but all the dye was able to get to the intestine just fine. He said the liver looked healthy, but the preliminary results of the biopsy confirm PSC. The doctor also said that he didn't know if all of chad's pain came from the biopsy itself, or if the biopsy triggered the gallbladder attack. has anyone else ever had that? This all sounded like good news to me. am I being premature in my celebrations? He looked & felt so much better today... he was up walking around even.... I was so happy!!! May God bless everyone for their prayers! Tammy (husband of Chad, UC & possible PSC 2007) Crumbliss wrote: Tammy-Take a deep breathe! My brother was dx in his early 20's with PSC, with UC in his early teens. We were told he would need a transplant in about 6 years from dx of PSC, and with him he is right on track. We just went through eval testing. There are members here that have only occasional flare ups, and lead very normal productive lives. PSC is a scary dx, but you are not alone. He is going for a liver biopsy on Wednesday. We are both 30 years old. Chad is a K-9 police officer & very active in his job. It's driving him crazy being on sick leave. Everything that I have read on PSC suggests that a person will probably go into liver failure & need a liver transplant within 10 years of being diagnosed. I'm not dealing very well with that! Can someone give me some more positive news about this disease before I have a complete nervous breakdown? Thanks. Tammy Ahhh...imagining that irresistible "new car" smell? Guest guest
Tammy, I had my gallbladder removed more than a year ago. My gallbladder was passing bile sludge and little stones through the strictures in the bile ducts and blocking them. I am basically symptom free since, but I don't know how long that will last, and I don't know if the same will be true for Chad. Hope this helps. Many of the people of the group are in Denver right now, so don't be alarmed if you don't get a lot of answers right away.
