Guest guest
Hello All, I have a son 12 yrs in 7th Grade, HFA with very high IQ score, Straight A student, in all advanced classes in school. Having a tough time socially in school and also cognitively and with organizational skills. He is also made the school cutoff by 1 day making him the youngest in the class. My husband & I have been considering holding him back right from pre-school years but the teachers would recommend me not to hold him back as he was academically ready. This year his stress and anxiety levels have been high as he struggled with the high demands of the organization and fast paced learning. My husband and I are considering hold him back a school year which will give him a year to mature. Is it possible to hold back a student a school year based on social development , organization and cognitive development and not based on academics. Please advise how should we prepare our case to present to the IEP Staff and principal of the school. Thanks Maddie
