Becky, have you thought about asking your doc's office to contact your Insurance? They could explain 'why' you need the Cymbalta. I may be wrong, but I don't think there is another med like Cymbalta on the market today. Years ago I got the birth control pill 'covered' when actually it normally wasn't with my Insurance. We contacted Human Resources through my hubby's work and explained that I was using the pill for Endo and not for birth control purposes. They covered it! Only problem is now I wish I would have never taken it.... *ugh* but that is a different story! Seems like some women have done well on Imipramine or Desipramine. I haven't taken them, but read where others have and liked them. Of course, it seems to be trial and error since we're all different... hopefully someone will respond....hang in there... ~Chelle
Guest guest
If your insurance doesn't cover it, you might want to try looking up the manufacturer of the medicine. They could have a free or reduced price program available. I get Replax for free through the manufacturer. Hope this helps, Sue Insurance won't cover Cymbalta Hi, all, Question about anti-depressants for pain. I tried Elavil for 6 months and had to go off due to side effects. So now my doc has prescribed Cymbalta, but my insurance will not cover this because I haven't tried other brands or generic "serotonin inhibitors." Suggestions? Do the other brands work as well? Guest guest
<<To get authorized, you must have tried two or three other medications that did not give results. I had tried Elavil, Neurontin, and Cymbalta with nogood results. Thus I got the Lyrica covered by insurance.>> Yeah, I've definitely tried several medications that I couldn't tolerate or didn't work. But my insurance says I have to try the generics or similar brands of Cymbalta before they cover it. Here I am, 3 months after the prescription was written with no medicine. I had to cancel my 3 month follow-up appointment because I have yet to even start the medicine! My doctor has written appeals to my insurance and they are so stubborn! It's so ridiculous. I'm going to have to buy some med that my doctor doesn't even want me on. Becky __________________________________________________
