Guest guest
Quick question. How long does a 9month flare last? What can I do to help my daughter get thru it? Marla P. I did not try Same-E. My GP gave me Lexapro which made everything worse. I finally did consult a psychiatrist- someone who really listened to me, after what my GP recommended did not work. Xanax does work, and is short acting as well- but this is what can make it more addictive and harder to stop ( depending on how much and how long ) I agree with Terry that it helps for short term use.The psychiatrist recommended a very small dose of Remeron. The biggest complaint about this drug is that for some people it increases appetite and they gain a lot of weight. There are people who swear it is evil for that. I was afraid of this, but at this tiny dose, it so far, (thankfully )has not. At low doses Remeron is sedating, and at higher doses it is not, but since depression was not the issue- I did not want to go to a higher dose. Because I was already given Xanax and had been taking it, and was concerned about suddenly stopping, she switched me to Klonipin. The very small dose of both at bedtime got me through the night. I am now weaning off the Klonipin, and we will reassess the need for Remeron over the next few months. Really, all we both wanted was for me to get some sleep, and thankfully, so far, it has worked.I too am very wary of being snowed on drugs, and my GP was more intent on them than the psychiatrist. ..I feel like the psychiatrist really did listen to me and I was pretty vocal about my discomfort with too much medication. We discussed the options carefully.Take Care,PJ>> > Anxiety> > > > > > My acupuncturist wants me to take SAM-e for anxiety for short term use.> I am doing much much better but am still struggling. This may be due to rapid Prednisone withdrawal.
