Guest guest
, Just wondering if you decided to go ahead with your block tomorrow. I'm sure you have read that I got the pudendal nerve block a week ago and i'm still waiting for it to kick in (i'm praying it does and that it helps me). As far as it affecting the clitoral area, i'm not too familiar with the particular kind of block you are getting, but i am thinking that maybe your doctor meant the block would work as far as to the nerve endings in the clitoral area. I too was concerned that the block would end up causing problems where I don't have problems (the rest of the vulvar area as my pain is only clitoral) but so far have not had any and my PN doctor didn't think it would cause any problems- certainly the block "affected" my vulvar area- I was completely numb there for 2 days, so i am wondering if that was what he meant by it could affect it....? The fact that you have gotten better 2 other times is certainly a very good sign. Hang in there and know that you did it once, you can do it again. Did you notice anything in particular that you did the other times that seemed to help make it go away? S wrote: I'm debating whether to go ahead with my nerve block on Wed. It's not forPN, but rather the nerve on top, the genitofemoral nerve. But the kicker ishe will do it one one side only. He doesn't want to do two sides at thesame time. How does this sound to everyone? The injection will go into mylower back area. I asked him if the clitoral area will be affected and hesaid it could be. I have no pain there, so I want it left alone. The gabapentin I take does nothing for the burning pain. I've never takenelavil and don't want to. Stress affects it adversely and I tend to beuptight. I take zanax for anxiety. He's never done an injection for painin this area before. And he's not putting pressure on me, but it seems likehe really wants to help. Having one side numb and one side left alone, seems a lttle bizarre to me. And then he won't see me for 2 weeks. I'mshaky writing this all down. It's ggone away on its own twice before, butthis time it's lasted longer (6 months). I'm so ambivalent. Looking for a deal? Find great prices on flights and hotels with Yahoo! FareChase. Guest guest
Hi , I saw the PN docs in New Hampshire. The anesthisiologist (also a pain management doctor and the PN specialist's partner for PN treatment) did the blocks through the butt (sorry, i don't know the " medical " term haha). I had one on each side. My butt was sore the day after the numbness wore off from the injections but just felt like sore muscles, nothing un-bearable (especially compared to the pain we are so used to having now). I did have numbing in the vulvar area- I had numbing in the butt, inner thghs, vulva, vagina and clitoris. I couldn't even feel myself doing a kegel- it felt like i couldn't even do one! This was from the lidocaine that surrounded the pudendal nerve from the block. My pain is only clitoral pain- feels like an aching/soreness. I'd say it started after about 2 hours of sharp shocking pains in the clitoris which stopped and resulted in my current pain about 3 days later. There are lots of doctors that I've heard of who want to do injections into the vulva but these are more likely to be trigger point release shots so I think it's important to clarify with your doctor what kind of injections he wants to do- trigger point release or PN nerve block. If it's a PN nerve block I don't think I'd be comfortable with a non-PN specialist performing them (just my opinion). I think the important thing is really trusting the doctor and really making sure you want them if you choose to have injections. But I also think (for any newbies) that there are much more conservative routes to try first like meds and PT. Again, this is all just my opinion. ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Shape Yahoo! in your own image.
