How do you use the dimmer switch? HOw many hours into the process? I have a different type of yogurt maker so I'm not sure if it will be the same as you but I need an idea. Thanks!Pour Dieu, pour terre,Alyssa =DI realized that my yogourmet was overheating, so I bought the dimmer switch. Unfortunately, I didn't turn it down fast enough and I found the temp at 124 degrees. I turned it down and it got to 110 in a couple of hours, but should I throw it out? Once it gets that hot, are all the good bacteria killed instantly? Please advise. heatherUC 12y, SCD 4 months

Alyssa,

Check out this link. It has an explanation about how to

use a dimmer switch with a yogurt maker along with pictures. You will get

the idea once you see the pictures and read the explanation.

How do you use the dimmer switch? you turn or set the dial so it is not at full power. HOw many hours into the process? depends on your machine - if you do it to start - it will take forever to gethigh enough. so that is not helpful. I have a different type of yogurt maker so I'm not sure if it will be the same as you but I need an idea.it's empirical. you have to test yours and play around with it to find out. but you can turn it down once it starts getting towards 110 or obviouslyonce it is higher. So it won't mes up the process taking the temp in the middle of the 24 hours? How do you use the dimmer switch?you turn or set the dial so it is not at full power. No, it doesn't mess up the process. You just have to stick in a sterile themomter (dipped in boilingwater and cooled for a minute) a few times to figure outwhat the temp is and then play around with your dimmerto make sure you are getting the yogurt in the right range. From what I can gather all Yogourmets will overheat. The machine

doesn't have a heat controller -- it just turns on and applies heat.

It's not intended to run for 24 hours -- it's designed for the more

typical 5-7 hours.

Knowing that it surprises me so many people use it for SCD yogurt. I

don't know if there's a better commercial solution but I use an

electric griddle, large pot for water and an inner stainless steel

bowl. Works perfectly.

Cheap too.
