Guest guest
They did, and were more willing to cover a power wheelchair than a scooter--and the PWC has a longer range--10 miles! When I go over to Edna's house,I charge it up for about 1.5 hrs. while I am there, after we have crawled to thenearest Japanese restaurant, 1 block away: I in my PWC, Edna with her walkerwith a seat; she lacks the arm strength to utilize the wheel chair!I shall try to attach photos of the PWC and a scooter for the handicapped.Well, that failed: an electric powered wheel chair looks like an uphosteredwheelchair, only with the wheels underneath the chair; the scooter looks likethe kind in grocery stores, only much smaller--much!Love,nTo: MSersLife Sent: Thu, March 17, 2011 4:19:24 AMSubject: Re: an update/ reply to & group, again I feel kinda ignorant. I had thought a power chair and a scooter were one in the same. I see them on commercials, and I thought they looked so similar. So, did Medicare not cover your power chair? I hope that they did.I'm glad you're getting rain. love,Kate
Guest guest
they were probably more willing to cover the cost of a power wheelchair because it's easier to adapt with increasing mobility needs. A scooter on the other hand, requires that you be able to walk at least a few steps to get in and out of it. It is also easier to fall out of and power chair.
