Guest guest
Hi Gwynne, For what it's worth, I think I told you had that same surgery in his sideburn area. It looked pretty bad for a few weeks. Now I have to really look to see the scar. He wouldn't mind a scar, he could get one hundred camp fire stories out of it..lol I know you will heal up fine.I am glad to hear about the anitbodies. Sounds like that new lung is ALL YOURS.. love thatTake Care of you Love & Prayers, PeggyFlorida, IPF/UIP 2004"I believe that friends are quiet angels who lift us to our feet, when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly." Elisa,I was taken off Coumadin a few weeks ago. Hooray! The doppler ultrasound showed no clots in my legsany more, and the lung scan showed a "lowprobability" of any clots on the lungs. That's a hugerelief.I'm currently recovering from facial surgery (Mohssurgery) for a basil cell carcinoma. The sutures wereremoved today (I drove an hour to Dallas for a fiveminite visit). The scar is terrible - is swollen in sucha way that it looks like there's a caterpillar under mycheek - but they think it will heal satisfactorily overthe next few MONTHS. yuk. If it doesn't I'd needplastic surgery, but I'm thinking positively.I also had a follow-up with my GEdude this weekfor my GERD. I thought he might want to do anendoscopy since I haven't had one since 2007, butI cleared that hurdle and got to reduce one of mymeds, Reglan, by just a bit.I'm also having to have testing by a urogynecologist, which I never heard of, to investigate why I have hadan unusual number of UTIs over the past 2 years. Some of that I'm not looking forward to, but I'll dowhatever is necessary to check it out.My life is busy with doctors!, church classes, bookclub, going to the gym, friends, family, and my dog.I need to lose 25 pounds, which is sort of the baneof my existence. I think it's a combination of aging, medications, and lack of discipline, especially wheneating out. I need to be more accountable, but I alsodon't want to beat myself up all the time... a fine line.I got some very good news. They did a blood testto check my antibodies and see if any antibodieshad formed to my new lung, and none had. Theycompared my antibodies to the tissue type of mydonor and nothing matched. Yippee.I'm wanting an update on Kerry and our othertransplant recipients as well.Hugs and blessings,Gwynne 57 Single-lung Transplant on 4-3-08at UTHSC - San Fort Worth, TX

Guest guest
Dear Gwynne, What a RELIEF to read of your mostly great update... your new lung seems to be holding up magnificently. Pity about the BCC.. I've got scars all over the place from those little critters but none compare to the wopping scar I copped from a Melanoma ... luckily it was at the top of my leg (or the Bottom of my Bottom Laughed the Surgeon!)....hopefully the swelling will subside over time. Your life certainly sounds really active n' busy.....I look out for news of you.... love, in Oz>> Elisa,> I was taken off Coumadin a few weeks ago.
