Elisa,

I was taken off Coumadin a few weeks ago. Hooray!

The doppler ultrasound showed no clots in my legs

any more, and the lung scan showed a " low

probability " of any clots on the lungs. That's a huge

relief.

I'm currently recovering from facial surgery (Mohs

surgery) for a basil cell carcinoma. The sutures were

removed today (I drove an hour to Dallas for a five

minite visit). The scar is terrible - is swollen in such

a way that it looks like there's a caterpillar under my

cheek - but they think it will heal satisfactorily over

the next few MONTHS. yuk. If it doesn't I'd need

plastic surgery, but I'm thinking positively.

I also had a follow-up with my GEdude this week

for my GERD. I thought he might want to do an

endoscopy since I haven't had one since 2007, but

I cleared that hurdle and got to reduce one of my

meds, Reglan, by just a bit.

I'm also having to have testing by a urogynecologist,

which I never heard of, to investigate why I have had

an unusual number of UTIs over the past 2 years.

Some of that I'm not looking forward to, but I'll do

whatever is necessary to check it out.

My life is busy with doctors!, church classes, book

club, going to the gym, friends, family, and my dog.

I need to lose 25 pounds, which is sort of the bane

of my existence. I think it's a combination of aging,

medications, and lack of discipline, especially when

eating out. I need to be more accountable, but I also

don't want to beat myself up all the time... a fine line.

I got some very good news. They did a blood test

to check my antibodies and see if any antibodies

had formed to my new lung, and none had. They

compared my antibodies to the tissue type of my

donor and nothing matched. Yippee.

I'm wanting an update on Kerry and our other

transplant recipients as well.

Hugs and blessings,
