Guest guest
Darlene, Little girls at 8.5 have mother daughter issues period. my daughter have had up and down moments but we are always close. Fortunately or unfortunatately my daughter has alwys shared everything with me... even thosethings I wish she didn't but I;m glad she feels she can. She has some leaning disabilities but is very smart so school has always been stressful. Also girls hormones start kicking in early and if you watch you can start tracking when their future menes will be. I taught preschool for years and you could start seeing it even then, It you start putting it on a calander you'll find it. As for your son, I wish I could say he doesn't sound like an adult man ...but we all know we raise our sons to be men and then they meet a girl and revert to that 2yr old again.LOL You just hang in there and give then love and it will all work out. Guest guest
Darlene, I don't know if you have ever heard of the Defeat Autism Now! project of the Autism Research Institute, but it comprises a network of doctors who are highly trained in how to find treatable issues in children with developmental disorders. You might be surprised how much could change if someone were to look at repairing the damage from FAS. If I have learned anything in my years of working with kids with autism is that things thought to be impossible to change can change if you can just figure out what went wrong and then backup and fix specifically what broke! I asked today on our doctor's list if anyone has had a lot of success or experience with kids with FAS, and I'll let you know if I get a " hit " ! I have GOBS of respect for those who choose to adopt children with special issues and I just pray that heaps of grace to be on you and your famiy in handling their issues! It is amazing how much harder it is for boys to hande developmental insults compared to girls. This is why we think the ratios of the sexes in autism is four boys to one girl. The girl's just need a much harder hit to effect them as much.
