Guest guest
Rita, I had the same problem as your son. I was listed at U of Colorado for five years and just getting sicker and sicker. Like your son, though, my MELD wouldn't go above about 15 & 16. Finally, I told my dr. there I had to do something as my husband was just diagnosed w/ Alzheimer's and I had to be over the surgery and well because I didn't know how long it would be before I would need to be full-time caretaker. He said there were other centers I could check out. I chose Indiana University Hosp. in Indianapolis because I was born & raised in IN. I went there for tests the first part of May last year ('06), was listed there Memorial Day weekend, and got my liver on June 27th!! I came home to Montana the middle of Sept. and am doing wonderfully. I would highly recommend IU Med Center - Clarian Hosp. any time, especially Drs. Kwo, my hepatologist, and Dr. Tector, my surgeon there. They were all wonderful. There is a Mc house close by and a hotel w/ reduced rates for hospital patients' families. I'll be praying for you and your family. Peggy McGovern Billings, MT Ahhh...imagining that irresistible "new car" smell? Check out new cars at Yahoo! Autos.
