We let them take off with pay and require them return to duty at the end of the

day when let go from jury duty.

jury duty

Need some help here. I can not find anything in our policy/procedure manual

that covers jury duty. What does everyone else do for jury duty? Do you pay the

entire 24 hours for the employee even though they are only in jury duty for 8

hours, or do you have them return to work. Any help would be appreciated.

Just depends on the company. When I was with Life Care Plus we would have them

just return to work afterward unless they were picked. Might be sethimg to ask

your HR person. The two times I've got notices they jury pool was cancelled.

Ours is covered under " Civic Leave " . Employee is required to return to work when

the Jury is released from service. They are not required to return to duty if

the trial runs more than one day. If I were on trial, I would desire to have a

well rested and attentive juror deciding my fate, so we allow our personnel on

jury duty to have time off for that reason. This is the policy as it stands for

our current 24/48 schedule. We will move to 12 hour shifts in the near future

and if needed, the policy will be reviewed for change.
