Guest guest
Hi - I was watching a reality show today about airlines and an older lady was trying to get on a Southwest flight but they would not let her because she had an oxygen tank. I think she did not tell them when she made the reservation. So, when one travels w O2 you have to notify the airline when you make your reservation? and then what? do they allow you to bring your own O2 on? If your canister is good for like 4 hrs what do you do, call another O2 provider in each town you go to? Guest guest
Hi... I recently flew to Arkansas, and US Air told me I could only use a concentrator approved by their one supplier, who would happily rent me one for $500 a week. I thought that was exorbitant! By getting a lift from a wheelchair or a cart changing planes, I was able to make the trip without doing that. My oxygen supplier here has a reciprocal agreement with one in Little Rock, and I expect that's pretty widespread, and they arranged for an exact duplicate of what they provide here for me to be waiting for me at my daughter's house in Arkansas. I think there was a $75 delivery and setup charge, but that must have gone to Blue Cross since I wasn't billed for it. This Christmas I drove to Indiana from northeast Pennsylvania, and the company I used provided a portable concentrator that plugs into the car, house, or runs off battery. It goes to 3L, which I'm on now, so it worked out. There are ways to travel, but it's sure not as easy as it used to be! Bill IPF 9-08New year...new news.
