Hee hee, thought you'd be either amused or bemused by the

drinking/valium thing, I was.

I personally don't see the point in putting more drugs into the liver

like valium because it's already having a hard time detoxing and

besides, if undermethylating, it can cause real trouble.

I awoke this morning with another thought about anxiety. When Pfeiffer

did their biochemical assessment of me they discovered I was

" Overmethylating " and their vitamin mineral script really helps with

the anxiety I had, so much that I'd forgotten all about it's

significance. Methylation is one of the conjugation pathways of liver

detox (amongst other cellular functions throughout the body) and is

characterised by low blood Zinc and either high blood histamine

(overmethylating) or low blood histamine (undermethylating). Pfeiffer

have a narrower normal range for blood histamine: there's is 0.4-0.6

umol/L compared with 0.2-2.0 that the " normal " docs go by.

Peruse http://www.alternativementalhealth.com/articles/walsh.htm

http://www.alternativementalhealth.com/

for Pfeiffer/Walsh research.

The script for me is a combination of high dose B vitamins and Zinc,

lesser now I've been on pfeiffer therapy for 18 months. My partner is

" undermethylating " and has totally different B vits in his script. Zn

and B6 are common to both.

Interestingly, authors like Natasha -McBride link the

deficiency of these B vitamins and consequently methylation problems

with a deficiency in beneficial bacteria in the gut, which apparently

produce a lot of B vitamins to the body. From what I gather, ALA

takes Hg out through the gut (not to mention the metals inherent in

gut cells) and can disturb the flora on the way. Sauerkraut is my

answer there, it is 30-80% Lactobacillus plantarum plus whatever you

may choose as a starter (unecessary, but beneficial), which balance pH

and cleans up the mess in the gut. Getting a 6 year old to eat it may

be a challenge, but it doesn't have to be plain cabbage, one I made

tasted like pasta sauce for eg.

Thanks for the reminder about phase 1/phase 11 detox imbalance, I had

totally forgotten about its significance, dwelling in dysbiosis

territory again lately since starting ALA and am reminded about why

I'm taking all these supps in the first place. At least now there's

more foods than pills, a year ago it was the other way around!

All the best,

Kelle.
