Guest guest
I have 12 mercury fillings in my mouth and have been sick for almost a year. The naturopath diagnosed me with mercury poisoning after doing the Mercury challenge test. My level was 82 when it should have been less than 3. My question is what is the recommended schedule for mercury removal? My naturopath is suggesting that I wait six months after taking oral EDTA etc (Essential Daily Defence formula) and then remove slowly quadrant by quadrant as he suggests? After reading Andy's book just recently I have realized that this plan doesn't make any sense. So do I get them out all at once so I can start chelating with DMSA or would this level of exposure be too much of a shock? Please Help! Guest guest
Well, I had 11 amalgams plus a crown (actually there were two crowns, one was over amalgam and one was not; I'm counting the crown over amalgam as amalgam). Mine were done by quadrants. There was 3-4 weeks between each quadrant. We started in August (2005) and finished (the amalgams) in October. Then the non-amalgam crown (over a broken front tooth) was done by itself. I noticed some improvement after each quadrant was done. But then in October when all the amalgam was out I was encouraged to take a homeopathic/chlorella detox solution which really screwed me up big time. I only took it for 4 or 5 days, but the damage was significant. It was like my health jumped off a cliff. And I had already been disabled to begin with... So. I think your naturopath's recommendation is pure horse shit. Don't take the EDTA at all. Don't take ANY detox before the amalgams are out. Don't wait six months before removing the amalgams - unless money or health dictate the wait. DO start on Andy's supplement regimen as soon as you can. And you absolutely must find a mercury-free/holistic/biological dentist to do the revision work. I found mine by requesting the list of dentists from the DAMS organization. If you are in New England, the Groton Dental Wellness Spa is excellent. If your amalgams are more or less spaced out over your mouth, the quadrant plan should be ok IF you have a good dentist. After reading Andy's book you probably already know that the challenge test was meaningless and potentially harmful. When I first joined this list and then got the book I stalled and stalled before getting the hair test. I figured that I already knew I was mercury poisoned so why did I need the test? Then I did it and it provides so much information that I wished that I had done it sooner. > I have 12 mercury fillings in my mouth and have been sick for > almost a year. Guest guest
, I am no expert but I did my dental work first. I am glad I did. I did a quadrant at a time spaced three months apart because my symptoms flared so badly after each removal (and that is with following the protocols!) Supplements really helped me feel better during this time. I don't think any doctor ND or otherwise really know much about mercury - they haven't spent the time with the research etc. My ND had recommended all sorts of things that are generally known to be less than helpful to mercury toxic people. My two cents.

No more challenge tests - the dose of chelator used is way too high and can lead to significant, sometimes permanent, worsening. > My level was 82 when it should have been > less than 3. > > My question is what is the recommended schedule for mercury removal? > Each person must decide how fast to remove amalgams depending on their health circumstances. The more frail the person the slower the removal process. Most important is to find the proper dentist. Make sure that he/she uses all the precautions to protect you from exposures. Find a dentist who has years of experience placing composites and who has a good track record (satisfied customers). Vitamin C IV on the days of removal can be very beneficial. It's a good idea to start on Andy's basic supplement list. > My naturopath is suggesting that I wait six months after taking oral > EDTA etc (Essential Daily Defence formula) No EDTA. I would consider one quadrant at a time or slower. J so I can > start chelating with DMSA or would this level of exposure be too much > of a shock?
