Guest guest
__Cross Post__ Since starting chelation with ALA we have noticed that we are craving junk food. A LOT. We have been thinking of this in terms of addiction to the endorphins created by food sensitivities and/or gut bug business but I was reminded recently of chromium's role in sugar regulation and am wondering how much chromium is used up/leeched by chelation. It was my understanding that chelating agents have a kind of hierachy of minerals they were attractive to according to their properties, starting with Hg then Lb etc then Zn etc. Where does chromium fit into this hierachy? I ask because my zinc has only just got into the reference range after heavy duty supplementation over 18 months (from 9 to 12.1)and I'm concerned that if chromium's going, then what's happening to zinc levels ?(awaiting blood test results, but they are not always accurate reflection of tissue levels, yeah?) Does anyone have an insight into how this works? Regards, Kelle
Guest guest
I'm not going to speculate about whether chromium gets used up during chelation. My understanding is that dithiol chelators prefer 'heavy' metals and that things like Mg and Zn are used up quickly during chelation because of their role as enzyme cofactors and the high demand for enzymes during healing. About the carb cravings, consider that as ALA chelates mercury out of the brain it is sort of like the brain is getting more damage from the moving mercury and the hypothalmus and pituitary are going to have to heal before they start working better. When there is stress and low blood sugar the adrenals get called on to increase the blood sugar because the brain has to have sugar at a narrow range of concentration to survive. If the adrenals can't keep up with the demand, because the system just got a whack from mercury and needs to do some healing, then there will be sugar cravings to meet the needs of the brain. My 2 cents. > > __Cross Post__ > > Since starting chelation with ALA we have noticed that we are craving > junk food. A LOT.
