Guest guest
,I am not a moderator but just what I think I know to be true.... Yes our antibodies go after our thyroid AND any thyroid meds we put into our bodies which is why we need to take a little more to keep up with it. I DO think this is also the case with synthetic T4 (synthroid etc) not BECAUSE it is natural thyroid. If I am incorrect, Val or Nick correct my thinking.VeniziaSubject: Moderator's Thoughts on doc's theoryTo: RT3_T3 Date: Friday, April 30, 2010, 11:04 AM I wanted to mention a couple of things that the Dr. I saw yesterday told me: the first is that she believes if you have an autoimmune disease, the same antibodies that attack your thyroid, will also attack natural thyroid meds., those being made up of dessicated thyroid. She said this may be why people with autoimmune disease cannot take dessicated and develop RT3. Secondly, she said that Rt3 can also be caused by a developed allergy to T3 or T4(sometimes that allergy is brought on by another condition). What do you guys think about those ideas? in CA

What do you guys think about those ideas? It doesn't fit the facts of a full replacement dose of T3 or Natural (which suppresses TSH and shuts your own thyroid down) reducing the levels of antibodies. I suspect these antibodies are going for something other than the thyroid hormone. The " allergy to T3 " thing also makes me doubt the thinking as the RT3 is only made from T4, T3 cannot turn into RT3. I have not heard of these thoughts before and they don't fit the general facts that I have heard so it doesn't feel right to me. I am not a medical professional though, Nick -- for more information on RT3 and Thyroid Resistance go to www.thyroid-rt3.com
