Guest guest
Pam, All of your bodily functions slow down when you are hypo. So, your digestive system slows down, making you not as hungry. But your metabolism slows too....weight gain. Reproductive system slows down.....more time between periods and longer periods.... Hypo could be it. Guest guest
Okay, my European friends...... If I weigh 167 pounds in the US....how many stone will I be if I come over to visit? I love the fact that there are people here from all over the world! I love to " hear " you all talk to each other on the board! It is fun and fascinating to me as I have lived a sheltered life in the US. Okay, how many stone am I? That way when someone here asks me how much I weigh, I can tell them how many stone I am and hopefully they won't have a clue! Guest guest
Pam, The only time this ever happens to me is when I'm hypo. That was the first time in my life when I didn't WANT to eat. When did you have labs last? Also, it may be that you're used to being ravenous while you're hyper, and you are getting better, so your appetite is more in check. It's hard to say. Just make sure what you DO eat is very nutrient-rich and healthy. If you haven't had labs lately, I'd get them done. Holly Dx 8/2001; currently on 7.5 mg. methimazole; labs in normal range Not Hungry Most of you know I consider the food I put into my body to be as healing or harmful as any of the other things I'm doing for my health right now... well I have a little problem, maybe someone will have an idea. I'm not hungry. If I'm not hungry, how am I supposed to eat all the food my body supposedly needs to get well? I mean, I could be perfectly happy to skip breakfast or lunch (not both) and I'm not snacking any more either. I get half way through my dinner, and I'm full. Plus I've gained a few pounds since loosing all that weight, which is not a bad thing, but tells me that even with eating less, I'm gaining, and so I must be getting better. But what to do about not being hungry? Skipping meals is not healthy, and I ve always believed the body would tell me when it needed food... Thanks, Pam B. Guest guest
Hi Pam and Holly - I agree with Holly that the lack of appetite is a sign of hypO. In fact, of all the hyper/hypo symptoms (that are confusing) I find that appetite is a surefire way of telling my levels. The more hypO I am, the less appetite I have. And if I start opening the refrigerator door several times an hour, it means my levels are on the way up. Get your levels checked - Best Wishes, Chris > Most of you know I consider the food I put into my body to be as healing or > harmful as any of the other things I'm doing for my health right now... well > I have a little problem, maybe someone will have an idea. > > I'm not hungry. Guest guest
Hi Pam and Holly - (I hope this doesn't post twice) I agree with Holly. I find that out of all the hyper/hypo symptoms, the appetite is a surefire sign for me. The less appetite I have, the more hypo I am. And if I can't stop myself from eating everything in sight, I'm definitely hyper. You should get your levels checked when you can. Best Wishes, Chris

Haven't figured out what is going on yet, but I am now below 16 stone for the first time in ages, which is silver lining, I've lost about 7 pounds. Appetite seems to have come back a bit recently, although I did break my healthy diet and partake of a friends giant chocolate rice crispy cake, it's okay I don't have many friends and all their birthdays seem to be centred around last week (the xmas effect?) or the second week of October... Guest guest
REALLY??? Ok, all along I've thought that hyper was supposed to be no periods or very infrequent periods (and here I was getting them every time I turned around), and hypo was frequent/heavy periods... (and here I am not getting one). Can you see how confused I am...or is this really simple and I'm confused because I'm hypo? Ok, I really have to go, we are late for a play date now... I'll check back when we get back. xoxo Pam B. -- Re: Not Hungry Pam, All of your bodily functions slow down when you are hypo. So, your digestive system slows down, making you not as hungry. Guest guest
Hi Pam - Just a thought - Maybe your FT4 is low and your FT3 is high? I find that this happens to me many times. It can explain having hypo and hyper symptoms at the same time. Hope you figure this out soon, Chris > REALLY??? Guest guest
Hi Pam B, With the weight gain, and not being hungry, I think you should go for your labs ASAP. It sounds very much like you are moving hypO. When I am hypO I do not care if I eat or not. Are you having any muscle/joint pains or aches also? Depression? Get your labs! Please! Guest guest
Hey Jean: I agree that it is fascinating how very small the world is. I am not exactly sure but I do think a stone is 14 lbs. I'm sure our friends across the pond will come to the rescue soon if I have totally muffed up this calculation. Have a lovely day...
