Croscarmellose Sodium, and Genistein (Soy Isoflavone) are both illegal. I'm cautious about the Hypromellose, as " -ose " indicates a sugar. If they'd leave the soy and other junk out, this would actually be a pretty good supplement. With regards to your Centrum, here are the ingredients: INGREDIENTS: Dibasic Calcium Phosphate, Magnesium Oxide, Potassium Chloride, Calcium Carbonate, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Ascorbic Acid (Vit. C), Ferrous Fumarate, dl-Alpha Tocopheryl Acetate (Vit. E). Contains < 2% of: Acacia, Anhydrous Citric Acid, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Beta Carotene, Biotin, Boric Acid, BHT, Calcium Pantothenate, Calcium Stearate, Cholecalciferol (Vit. D), Chromium Picolinate, Corn Starch, Crospovidone, Cupric Sulfate, Cyanocobalamin (Vit. B12), dl-Alpha Tocopherol, FD & C Yellow 6 Aluminum Lake, Folic Acid, Gelatin, Hydrogenated Palm Oil, Hypromellose, Lutein, Lycopene, Maltodextrin, Manganese Sulfate, Medium-Chain Triglycerides, Modified Food Starch, Niacinamide, Nickelous Sulfate, Phytonadione (Vit. K), Polyethylene Glycol, Polyvinyl Alcohol, Potassium Iodide, Pregelatinized Corn Starch, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vit. B6), Riboflavin (Vit. B2), Silicon Dioxide, Sodium Ascorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Metavanadate, Sodium Molybdate, Sodium Selenate, Sorbic Acid, Stannous Chloride, Sucrose, Talc, Thiamine Mononitrate (Vit. B1), Titanium Dioxide, Tricalcium Phosphate, Vitamin A Acetate (Vit. A), Zinc Oxide. May also contain < 2%: Sodium Aluminum Silicate. Ferrous Fumarate is an iron supplement, and not legal, as iron feeds bad bacteria. BHT is not specifically illegal, but I don't trust it -- it's linked to so much other junk. Corn Starch is illegal. dl-Alpha Tocopherol is the synthetic version of only one of the mixed tocopherols which make up Vitamin E. It's not nearly as potent. Hydrogenated palm oil -- not strictly illegal, but I won't use hydrogenated oils. Maltodextrin is illegal. Elaine hated " malti " with a passion. Modified Food Starch is illegal. Pregelatinized corn starch is illegal. Sucrose is illegal. There may be more -- those are just the ones that leap out at me. SIX illegals in one lousy tablet. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund

I will look into the Freeda brand on the BTVC site. Thanks for investigating so thoroughly! One thing you said really caught my eye though: I am pretty anemic and need to start taking iron (it really hurts my guts though, so I was going to wait until I got stronger/D improved). Do you have a good brand of iron to recommend, or is all iron supplements bad and should i should only rely on natural sources of iron for the time being (spinach, steaks, etc)? Steak. spinach, liver.... I have a pretty good pate recipe. Made it for when I had my cancer surgery. Oncologist said I might need up to two units of blood and iron supplementation. I groaned and said I'd do liver if I had to... and you wouldn't believe how much I dislike liver in most circumstances. To my great good fortune, thanks to the healing of SCD, I needed neither liver nor transfusions. You may find that as you heal, you will become less anemic. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
