Ok .. I have been a lurker for a while now .. finally found something that I

feel needs my input.

I work with a private ambulance service here in Montgomery county and we

have a patient that is >400#. I have also responded with the VFD that I am a

member of, for lift assist on a patient that is >1,000# !

The 400# patient takes 3 people to move and the 1000# patient about 8

people.

The 400# patient can be moved in a standard box, the 1000# patient requires

a modified box or a specialized bariatric unit to move.

From having dealt with both patients, can understand where the " fat-rights "

person is coming from.

That being said .. I have the only reasonable solution (at least in my

mind).

Raise all of the prices to match that of the heaver group of patients

and charge everyone that rate. Then the " fat " people are not receiving a

surcharge! Of course, then you are going to get those that are " normal " (who

the heck defines that anyway?) to start complaining because their rate are

high.

The way I see it . the ambulance company is screwed either way. From what I

am seeing, the government is trying to come in and regulate everyone and

everything to death anyway.

Just my $0.02 worth ..

JT

Sitting back and getting ready for the sparks to fly!

We've already, in a sense, done that by charging people who pay more

because there are people who don't pay.
