O/T 1st amalgam removal scheduled - help please

I'm having my first of four amalgams removed next week. We've already

planned for the rubber dam and oxygen. So I need to have them take

xrays first to check for cavitations, and if there's any amalgam

sealing a root tip. And also ask about the type of

novacaine/carbocaine they use (hope it has just one ingredient). Is

there anything else I need to take care of (besides my own diet and

vit C iv, supplements, etc.)? What should I do if things get ugly in

the procedure and the dentist says I need a crown or root canal?

Should I tell her (the dentist) to just pull the tooth? Any other

advice?
