A Question on Natural Supplements

Hi, I've been on the SCD for four months now, and it's worked wonders. My case

(autoimmune thyroiditis, allergies, chronic fatigue, positive for ANA, and some

kind of undiagnosed IBD) is a bit complicated, however, as I've got a h pylori

infection as well as bacterial overgrowth. I'm trying to avoid antibiotics

because I think that I will not tolerate them well. The holistic doc I've been

seeing put me on mastic, and although illegal, I thought I'd try it. I have no

idea if it worked against the h pylori, but it totally caused a HUGE setback

with the other bacteria (the doc kept saying it was die-off, but I knew die-off

wouldn't get progressively worse). I took myself off of the mastic, and am now

looking for other alterntives (although I'm very close to starting the

antibiotics). Does anyone have experience with the SCD and h pylori? I assume

that h pylori is like c dif, and isn't reversable by the SCD alone. Another

question is how can I find out if certain natural substances are illegal? For

example...berberine. I searched this site and noticed that someone had called a

berberine supplement illegal on the basis that barks and roots are illegal. How

can I check their information? How can I find things out for myself?

Google-ing has only taken me so far, so I'm starting to think I'll have to

contact manufacturers. When I've done so in the past, they can usually tell me

if there are any hidden additives or ingredients to a product, but no one seems

able to tell me if a substance contained in their product (like Matula tea) is a

di- or polysaccharide. Thanks for the help...it's good to not feel alone out

here.
