Stress, either mental or physical, was enough to send me into a

flare.   The three month flare is sometimes the two month flare. Here’s

the SCD Electrolyte Drink: 4 cups boiling water, ¼ tsp. sea salt, ¼ tsp. baking

soda, optional: 2 Tbls. honey. Mix and drink throughout the day. Good for 24

hours then you must make a new batch. Some fruit juices are absorbed through

the stomach, apple and orange juice are 2 that I know. Drink chicken broth too.

Have you checked into Low Dose Naltrexone? I just started it in

cream form and am liking it so far. It’s only been a few days so far. www.LowDoseNaltrexone.org

Husband Fred has been on SCD for two months.

Made very slow but steady improvement until this past week, when a stress hit

and he regressed from 4 BMS (diarrhea, although not terribly watery) to 6-8 a

day, a few quite watery. It's apparent to me he's also lost about 10 pounds

this week. Loses weight faster than anyone I've ever seen, cannot afford to

lose it. Becomes quickly dehydrated and then ends up in the hospital, twice

this has happened with pancreatitis complication.

Is stress alone enough of a factor for this setback to occur? Only diet change

has been to make the yogurt with 25% half and half, 75% whole milk, instead of

all whole milk, and we've added steamed green beans.

I'm guessing I should probably order the Elyte drink I see so many of you talking

about?

Also, are any of you on Remicade along with the SCD?

Thanks for any input.

Wife of Fred

UC, 03/06, SCD 04/21/09, Bosswelia, 05/09, no meds except Remicade, 4th

infusion due July 8th.

Keep in mind progress on the SCD, especially for UC, is measured in

months and years, not days or weeks.

A malfunctioning colon contributes to dehydration. Is he drinking

enough water? Eliminate all other beverages -- coffee, tea, fruit

juice, alcohol, diet soda, etc., legal or not -- and drink just water

and the SCD electrolyte drink.

Sure. Is he doing anything for anxiety management?
