Guest guest
hI Marie You go girl..... one day at a time..... I see you have given yourself great advise on giving up your nicotine, chocolate and sugars. (My sister in law has given up smoking after 53years I was amazed and thought if she can give it up, anyone can) best wishes and good luck >Anyway, the doctor and others have said to quit all added sugars and chocolate to help control this. I've decided I'll quite the nicorette for a few days before I quit the sugars and chocolates. I have considered dying over quiting the nicotine - this is a profound addiction. But I realized that if I were actually at the point of dying, I would then probably gladly give up the nicotine in order to live. At least today, I'm figuring that I can get through this for one day. So I'll take this one day at a time. > > Marie
Guest guest
Thanks for that reply. I'm going to quit sugar and chocolate in a while and I'll see if that helps. I'm also working on the Kegler exercises to see if that helps. Otherwise I'll definitely be talking to my doctor again about this night leaking. This just can't continue!Marie To: From: gfmeyer@...Date: Fri, 7 Mar 2008 03:39:44 +0000Subject: Re: Follow-up on quiting the nicorette gum & pouchitis "Also, as to the pouchitis, I had a scope yesterday, and the pouch looked good. No sign of pouchitis. Yet I'm having watery stools and bad leaks at night that require changing/washing not only the sheets but the mattress pad." Hi Marie, I had chronic, recurring pouchitis and always felt like you describe, until at one scope I *didn't* have the pouchitis anymore, and STILL felt like this. I was on a very low dose of Flagyl long-term, and couldn't stop it without changing underwear 5 times a night and washing sheets every day. After my GI reassuring me that I SHOULD expect a better quality of life, and lots of subsequent investigation to the cause of feeling so poorly, he deduced that I have chronic small bowel bacterial overgrowth. My gut flora are very screwed up; I've found that a combination of a low dose of Flagyl (125 mg daily) and a high dose of probiotics keep my guts in check now. I'm still in big trouble (read: lots of laundry!) if I try to quit the abx! Might this be part of your difficulty, since your scope was clear? I don't know your history; you might already have an answer or have been through this possibility... Thought I would relay my experience, though.
