Darcy,

Do you have frequent heartburn, or take medication for GERD, like Pepcid,

Tagamet, Axid or Protonix? The reason that I ask is that swallowing

difficulties are often linked to stomach problems, and should be checked

out by a gastroenterologist.

Shoot - the post sent before I was finished with it!! LOL! Anyway - what

I was going to say is that if it's caused by emotional upset, there are

medications that can help that also. It's a form of panic attack, and can

be treated the same way. Sorry about the premature send!

problem - like your throat being too small or something and that causes you

to have problems, but you really need to have it checked out by someone who

knows what they're looking at and for.

Don't worry, we can just say you're a premature sender! (sorry if that

isn't funny to the guys in the group). I would have never guessed it

was a form of panic attack, and in fact, had been feeling pretty good

that I don't have those (knocking on wood). It doesn't happen often

enough, or last long enough for me to even bother someone about it.

Thanks for letting me know, though, this way if it ever gets worse, I

know to ask someone about medication for it.

I hear what you're saying, , but I've gone and mentioned symptoms

that *really* bother me to various of my doctors and they all act like

I'm complaining about a paper cut. No one thinks stuff like almost

constant mouth sores is even worth handing me *anything* for let alone

actually trying to figure out why they are occurring. I'm almost at the

point of just letting things ride, and waiting until things get bad

enough by their definition to do something about. I do have Gerds and

take tagamet on and off as needed. I recently started taking ...gosh,

the new pink and black pill kind of like prilosec because my heartburn

had gotten worse. The swallowing is usually only noticeable when I take

my hard protein pills or my pills at night, before bed. Sometimes when

I'm eating, but not that often. I'll have to see if it seems to

correlate with when I have heartburn problems. I don't think so, but

I'll pay better attention.

Seriously, I know I shouldn't have this attitude, but I'm on the verge

of just saying the hell with doctors. I go to them with complaints and

they act like I'm whining about stuff I have no business whining to them

about. Nobody but Dane takes me as these things being a problem.

Sigh...just ignore me, I've been in a bad mood about this whole thing

lately.

Hi all!!

I never put it together until I read it here.

I don't have troat spasms, but definetly a gag reflex. You know how you

sometimes put something between your teeth or lips to hold it for a while. I

used to do that all the time. Pick up a couple things of mail, hands full,

hold letters with teeth until the door is unlocked. It makes me gag

immediately!!! Not even in my mouth and it makes me gag. Also I used to

have only seasonal allergies and now I have a runny nose almost all the time.

Stupid me!! I have been so busy with neck/back pain that I really neglected

anything else.

I am glad I read about this here!!

Thanks , CO

Hi Donna,

Sorry I called you by the wrong name, must hav been a bad day :-)

Have at this moment of time a swollen left nostrel (inside) it is really

painful and am not sure what it is. It is has small trickel of blood and I

was wondering if u suffer like this as well. Not sure whether to go to the

docs with it as I feel like a hypocondriac it just seems that I always have

something wrong with me most of the time. Have lots of tightness inbetween my

rib cage in my chest I cant seem to breath sometimes as the pain is so

intense. Do u experience that also.

Am sorry to sound so down but have not spoke 2 anyone with the same sort of

symptoms before. I am not going mad after all :-)

look forward to hearing from u in the future.

best wishes
