We have not been to the ocean, but we've been to lakes and pools, and he has

no clue. Even after jumping into water deeper than he is tall multiple

times. Last summer we put the life jacket on him before we left the

apartment because he would invariably get away from us, dash ahead, and jump

in to the water.

Like I said, we haven't been to the ocean, so I have no way of knowing how

he'd react there. Do you find it is really that different? That would be

fascinating.

who truly is curious and hopes her tone is not...um...can't think of the

word. Yucky.

Putter really understands about deep water. He has made that clear on

numerous occasions. And he is a good swimmer.

Marc says it's a physiological thing caused by the emission of negative ions

when the waves meet the shore. We both feel VERY calmed by water.

I have no idea whether or not he's bullshitting.

I think you're probably right.

LOL! It's rare that commercials serve any purpose other than to work

kids into a " gotta have that! " frenzy. Glad that one worked for

you. :o) still can't read so it wouldn't work for her. She's

not particularly receptive to PECS either. 's starting to read

but he has no fear of anything...at least in the daytime. He has lots

and lots of nightmares though. So while he might dream about drowning

he'd never associate that with the real risks he'd face in the ocean.

Ditto! This is . He's also the type that would climb to the top

of an electric pole too if he got the opportunity. He climbed over 20

feet up in a Mulberry tree and was waving to me from the uppermost

branches. The fact that the branches were swaying more than 2 feet in

both directions didn't seem to register with him at all. I asked him

very calmly to come down and hid my eyes until he did. Fortunately he

came down in one piece because those branches certainly wouldn't have

held my weight.

The thought of in water too deep & strong for me to swim in

absolutely terrifies me. :(

I wonder if it's because of what Sissi mentioned, the deep pressure

of the waves. Still water doesn't give the same sensory imput.

Curious....

I don't live near a beach though so I can't check it out.
