Guest guest
-----Original Message----- I swear I can feel when a hair from my head has slipped down into my shirt. I take the shirt off, turn it inside out and start picking the stray hairs out. Cindy, I believe you’ve just made Ken’s day, maybe even his whole year!!! You are not alone, Ken knows exactly what you mean. I don’t think he’ll mind my sharing how absolutely crazy he gets from just one hair. Ken keeps a small vacuum cleaner next to his bed and another next to his couch. I’m not kidding. If we had more money, I’d tell TJ to buy stock in those sticky tape roller companies, Ken uses so many of them. He can feel the tiny tiniest of anything on his skin and he MUST remove and scratch. I feel so bad for the two of you, can’t imagine how crazy it must drive you to itch like that. I whine from one mosquito bite. Guest guest
You made my day! I thought I was just obsessive/compulsive. I even run my fingers through my hair and gently tug to get any loose hairs out of there before I put my shirt on. At night, I am always picking stray hairs off the pillow and sheets. I think I will get one of those lint brushes and keep it by my bedside. Guest guest
Cindy, I say ditto to absolutely everything, but what about shaving your legs? I have to shave mine every day (sometimes twice). Not only does it itch, it hurts to have those nubs catching on my clothes. I also have a heck of a time finding pants that do not hurt/itch my stomach. I don't wear a bra either. I am itching like crazy right this very moment. My dermatologist prescribeds Xyzal 5 mg. It works a bit better than any of the other antihistamines. I also do a sort of self hypnosis. I read a high interest novel (I loved Myers vampire books) or watch something on television. I block out everything else and sometimes the itching subsides. Guest guest
Cheryl, I shave everyday. I don't wear jeans or pants that don't have stretchability to them because I am forever sneaking the hand up the pant leg to scratch. Scratching through fabric just don't cut it. I haven't tried that med yet, but I wrote it down and will mention it to my Hep. I also use focus techniques to try to block out the itching. I have the tv on all night because if I start itching, I focus on what is being said. My husband has said that I zone out sometimes and he has even told people who are trying to talk to me that I am focused on stopping the itching. Guest guest
Jeanne, I think many of us scratch our skin off. I get blood on my sheets, clothes, towels, pillow cases. I get tired of changing sheets so freqeuntly. Wearing white or light colored clothing can be embarrassing. I get sores that come independent of the itching but are aggravated by my scratching. I don't know what the sores are from. I've used all kinds of " instruments " to scrath the itch. I'm not listing them, someone else did once and I got so desparate that I added one of the mentioned items to my bag of tricks. So sorry you're suffering. My dr wants me to try phenabarbitol (sp). But that would knock me out worse than antihistamines do. Guest guest
How strange everybody is different, even with the itching. When my body temp goes up with fever, my itching stopped immediately. I don't need to take my temp...if I suspect it and my itching stops, I know it's a fever, and as soon as the fever subsides the itching comes back with a vengeance.
