Guest guest
One of the things I wanted to add to this thread is that we all need to be careful when looking for specific symptoms and their direct cause. PSC and UC are so complex that anyone could have an unusual symptom caused by either of those without it being identified in the medical world. Ulcers in the mouth are commonly associated with Crohn's. I know the question was about UC but what I learned from taking my daughter to the mayo clinic is that UC presents itself differently in patients with PSC. They mayo clinic doctors told me that they are close to identifying a third variation of IBD (the one associated with PSC) because there are so many PSC patients with unusual UC. With Suzanne (my daughter) she still had a formal dx of indeterminante colitis because they are not clear whether she has UC or Crohn's - even though she had her colon removed with extensive pathology done on her colon. With people without PSC it would not be so complicated. Actually, I'd like to extend my comments to people with auto-immune disorders. Like many people on this list, auto-immune disorders run through my family and none of us have " typical " symptoms. It seems if it's rare it's us. Guest guest
- So good to hear from you again. I agree 100% with the unusual symptoms that pop up - and also that there are symptoms and prognosis with disease progression that are not explained by textbooks! Hope things are going well for Suzanne.
