Hi All,

In 2006 , Mike Zaloudek rode his bike to the PSC Partners Seeking a

Cure conference in Pittsburgh PA. to raise money for Partners.

Now his friends are honoring Mike and riding in the Race Across

America to raise money for PSC Partners Seeking a Cure and for the

American Diabetes Association.

The race actually started yesterday. The four person team will race

from Oceanside, CA to polis, MD on single speed fixed gear bikes.

They will be riding 24 hours a day in 6 hour shifts and expect to

reach polis in about 7 days. The mountains they cross will total

almost 20 vertical miles of climbing- 100,000 feet ! Wow !

You can follow the race at:

www.raceacrossamerica.org

To support both these causes and Mike you can make a tax deductible

donation at:

www.AdventuresfortheCure.com

Donations through the Google Checkout are currently at no cost to non-

profits.

To donate by check, mail to:

Adventures For the Cure

933 Oakmoor Drive

Halethorpe, MD 21227

May the bikers have strong legs and good weather on their trek across

America.

I thank them very much for taking on PSC Partners as a cause and I

will watch their progress.

Mike, I am happy to support this great event and I have sent a small

donation !

My thanks to you for all you do to help PSC Partners raise awareness

for PSC and to raise money for research.

Lee

PS I'm sorry I couldn't post the actual flier as the file was too big.

Thanks Lee,The Flyer PDF is located here online: http://www.zaloudek.net/psc/AFCRAAM.pdfI am hoping this race will result in thousands of dollars for PSC Partners. These guys are great! Every year almost they do some type of adventure for a good cause. I don't think this will be the last time they do something for PSC Partners so any form of support for these guys would be appreciated. Because they are doing this for US one thing that I am requesting is for people to write some words of encouragement or thanks to the racers. There will come a time over the next week when they are too tired and need some motivation and inspiration to keep going. I would like some notes to pass on to the support team that they can share with the racers at those times. Lee mentioned my fund raising ride to Pittsburgh in 2006. 3 of the 4 RAAM Racers were with me on parts of that ride - Adam, Pat and . rode the entire 112 miles on the first day of the ride with me. The Race: (They are currently @ 30Hrs into the race)Race Across America 2008 - http://www.raceacrossamerica.org This is an endurance cycling race and there are solo racers and 4 or 8 person teams. The route is just over 3000 miles from Oceanside CA to polis, MD. The AFC team is dong the race on single speed fixed gear bicycles. These bikes have one gear and the pedals have to turn while the bike is moving. There is no coasting - even downhill they have to pedal. Modern bikes usually have 20-30 gears to make it easier to pedal uphill and to go faster downhill and on the flats. Why is AFC using only one gear the entire race? The short answer is because it's harder that way! There are 4 racers for AFC, Adam, Patt, and , They will be rotating in 2 man shifts while the other 2 rest and change every 6 hours. The team will ride 24 hours a day until they finish. They expect to arrive in polis in about 7 days. (over 400 miles a day) There will be updates/pictures/video on the AFC Website http://adventuresforthecure.com (click on blog)and on the RAAM website. The Fundraiser:You can donate online at http://adventuresforthecure.com or mail a check to:Adventures For The Cure, 933 Oakmoor Drive, Halethorpe, MD 21227make checks payable to "Adventures For The Cure"AFC is a 501©3 nonprofit foundation and the donations should be tax deductible. They always raise money for the American Diabetes Association and Adam, the cofounder of AFC is a type 1 diabetic himself. This year they are splitting the donations between the American Diabetes Association and PSC Partners Seeking a Cure.PSC Partners was mentioned on the RAAM Website: http://www.raceacrossamerica.org/wordpress/?p=774Here's another article on the RAAM Site about the team AFC:http://www.raceacrossamerica.org/wordpress/?p=916#more-916Thanks, Mike ZHi All,In 2006 , Mike Zaloudek rode his bike to the PSC Partners Seeking a Cure conference in Pittsburgh PA. to raise money for Partners. Now his friends are honoring Mike and riding in the Race Across America to raise money for PSC Partners Seeking a Cure and for the American Diabetes Association. The race actually started yesterday. I always thought when our champion came it might be oneperson but it looks like our champion has come in the guise of a biking foursome !!Way to go guys, you are heros to those with diabetes and PSC !Big thanks and good vibes to keep up the strength you need.Lee Directly to me is good - Mike (AT) Zaloudek (DOT) net or You can post comments to their blog at:http://adventuresforthecure12.blogspot.com/I am posting the daily updates as I get them from the support staff.
